Joining Sigmas made me realize that I’ve been missing out on meeting so many students within the NYU community. I’m really excited to grow individually in a group that fosters self-development.

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑺𝒀𝒁? I struggled a lot with my mental health all of freshman year, so I always felt extremely disconnected and lost in the expansiveness of NYC. I actually planned on transferring schools, so for me, finding Sigmas was a shining beacon of hope. I’ve been able to surround myself with compassionate, sincere, and resolute individuals who inspire me to become a better version of myself each and every day. But most importantly, Sigmas has given me a space to nurture my own spirit, to grow alongside other resilient individuals, and a place to call home.

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑺𝒀𝒁? After attending recruitment events, I felt really at home and comfortable with the SYZters which led me to join Sigmas. As a Fall 2020 transfer, I wasn’t able to meet people or really establish myself in NYU at all. I’m glad to have found a place with likeminded individuals who work hard play hard. The SYZters are really passionate and driven towards their goals which inspires me to do the same.

By seeing the amazing chemistry between the charter sisters at informal and formal recruitment, I knew Sigmas would be the right place for me to do just that.

Moreover, I wanted to commit to a purpose greater than myself and SYZ came into my life at the perfect time. Each and every sister I met has qualities I admire and strive for — confidence, resilience, integrity, ambition, loyalty, and so on. I chose to stay because I was lucky enough to find my eternal SYZterhood here. My sisters push me to become a better version of myself everyday.

Meeting my line syzters was amazing and we balance each other out so well! The overall atmosphere of ΣΨΖ promoted individualism and was also really empowering which was really important to me!

I wanted to meet more people and build a community of friends and close knit relationships with people. I definitely found that after I joined, and everyone in SYZ gave me the sense of collectivism and support that I was looking for.

I didn’t expect this at first but I genuinely had a great time meeting all the SYZters, so I decided to stay truly because of the people. I was also surprised at the similarities I share with my Big Olivia and how I can always be weird around her hehe <3. Later on, I realized how much I appreciate SYZ’s close-knit community where I’m able to express my culture and support SYZ’s unique philanthropy all in one.

I knew from the moment I left SYZ's second recruitment event, I wanted to be a part of the organization. Every SYZter is always there for another. Meeting my line sisters was honestly one of the best moments ever, we instantly got along and balanced each other out. There has not been a dull moment since then. I also love SYZ's philanthropy. I initially was interested in SYZ because I was searching for a new community of people and friends, but ultimately decided to stay after seeing how everyone naturally vibed with each other despite all our unique personalities. SYZ offered me a professional, social, and all-around wild experience (in a good way) that I will forever remember! My sisters are such an inspiration and encouragement to me and I love that we can support each other but also have tons of fun whenever.

After meeting more SYZters as well as other PNMs, I felt so comfortable that I decided to stay. Now as an official SYZter, I’m so glad that I had decided to stick with it. I also want to thank my biggo Sandy because she’s the entire reason why I’m here right now (recruitment chair slayyy).
